Peter Drummond
 
Peter is Immediate Past President of BCSC and the Chief Executive of BDP, the inter-disciplinary architecture, engineering and design firm. He graduated from Manchester University with a BA (Hons) in Urban Planning. He joined BDP as a Planner in 1976, and became a Senior Planner at Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council in 1978.

Peter rejoined BDP in 1980 as a Director, being responsible for urban planning and large scale masterplanning development projects in London. Peter became Chairman of BDP South in 1999, and Chief Executive in 2004.

He is an active Urban Planner and Designer with special knowledge of the retail sector, writing various publications including co-author with Martyn Chase on Shopping After the Millennium (University of Lancaster 1993), London’s Urban Environment study for Government Office for London) and Effects of Major Retail Development (Dept of the Environment). Peter’s notable recent projects include masterplans for Liverpool ONE, the All England Lawn Tennis Club, and the ABC Centre in Beirut. He has been closely involved in BCSC for many years as Chairman of its annual conference in 2007, and as author of a commissioned study on retail led regeneration and urban design, resulting in the acclaimed Urban Design for Retail Environments report (2002). Peter is currently a member of the Executive Board, an Ex-Officio member of the Educational Trust and member of the Urban Development Committee

Peter is married to Sue and they have two sons. He is a keen skier and sailor and participated in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race in 2005-06, and the ARC transatlantic yacht race in 2010.
