Welcome Tea Party
The Showcase opened on Monday evening with a welcome party that was attended by a host of local celebrities, including Liverpool FC legends, Phil Thompson, John Aldridge and Alan Kennedy; World Boxing Champion, John Conteh; Olympic Medal Winner (Boxing Beijing), David Price; TV Presenter and Model, Danielle Lloyd and
TV Presenter and Actress, Terri Dwyer.
BCSC Party in The Park
The BCSC Party in The Park, sponsored by Grosvenor, saw delegates toast the 25th anniversary of BCSC while dancing to the Fab Beatles in a marquee in the middle of the Liverpool ONE development. Among guests was Claire Sweeney, who had performed a special musical set on a stage set above Showcase earlier in the day, along with Last Choir Standing’s ACCORD, the Community Gospel Choir.
Educational visits
Around 65 youngsters from Merseyside schools visited the Showcase as part of an educational programme organised by Open Culture, part of the Liverpool Culture Company, which is headed by Professor Phil Redmond.
They were greeted by BCSC Chief Executive Michael Green, who commented: “It’s a pleasure to see them here today,” he said. “They are our future. What they see here will be coming to fruition in the next 10 years when they have graduated and are in the business world themselves.”
Dianne Musker of Open Culture said: “We were delighted to be given the opportunity for schools to see at first hand what is going on in terms of new thinking in retail-led regeneration. This event will give them insight into the possibilities for their own future careers.”

This year, the chosen Conference & Showcase charity was the Merseyside Media Trust which aims to promote a better understanding of the skills and employment opportunities in media, as well as advocating how the media can play an important role in helping underrepresented groups find a voice and get their message heard.
The event also saw Accessible Retail present its 44th coach to local school, Lyndale School of Eastham, Liverpool, as part of its continued support of its principle charity - The Variety Club Sunshine Coach Appeal. Raising over £100,000 a year, the company presents much-needed transport facilities for the charity that works on behalf of sick, disabled and disadvantaged children. |
