About this year's conference... |
| |
Offering a mix of platform sessions and seminars, this year's conference looks forward to welcoming a mix of high profile speakers from across the industry spectrum debating issues such as:
Economic outlook - with large scale public sector budget cuts, high levels of inflation, low levels of consumer confidence and high unemployment what is the future macro economic outlook for the UK generally and how is this likely to affect retailers' growth prospects, and therefore the future of retail property development?
| |
Political landscape - how will the localism agenda impact on retail property delivery and how are UK businesses adapting their business models in response to more local decision making and consumer empowerment? Is there a contradiction between the decentralisation and growth agendas, and are we seeing this manifest itself as conflict within Government.
| |
Retail growth - Chaired by Retail Weeks' Tim Danaher, this session will take a lead from some of the deliberations of the Portas Review, the extensive work that we at BCSC have been conducting on the localism agenda and indeed the work we are involved in through Business in The Community (BiTC). Where are retailers focusing their resources to deliver growth and what can owners do to encourage them to commit to their schemes?
| |
The future viability of regeneration - how does the changing political landscape and economic climate impact the future viability of regeneration? |
| |
| |
| In addition, and new this year - a full programme of concurrent seminar sessions will run throughout Tuesday and Wednesday conference days. The last few years has provided our sector with an opportunity to re-think old business models, relationship dynamics and ways of doing things and develop ideas and concepts for a new world of retailing and retail property development. These sessions, designed to address various industry concerns are intended to offer attendees with flexibility to choose those of the most importance and relevance to them. |
