What is BCSC?
BCSC embraces the retail property industry in all shopping formats (high street, shopping centre, retail parks) and all locations (in town, edge of town, out of town). Relevant to public sector and private sector (retail and property) members, it combines a valuable internal forum with an authoritative and collective voice on behalf of its members.

Our purpose is to foster a professional, socially responsible and progressive retail property industry and thereby enhance our members' commercial advantage.

Current Research Expand
 
BCSC has an on-going programme of research - upcoming projects include updating of the Shopfitting Guide for New Tenancies, examining design for Accessibility and Designing out Crime and Disorder, Measuring the Impact of Voids in Shopping Centres and High Streets and development of guidance to assist in Accelerating Change Towards a Low Carbon Shopping Centre.

Guidance Note 65 - The Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy Efficiency Scheme: Implementation

This Guidance Note raises industry awareness of this mandatory regulation which will have repercussions for all non-domestic buildings that have an annual half-hourly electricity use of above 6,000 MWh (an electric bill of approximately £500,000).
