Future of Retail Property Report 9 - Future Shopping Places (2007)

Publication Date: 18/04/2007

This publication forms part of BCSC’s Future of Retail Property programme. This is a major research initiative designed to map out the key forces for change in the retail industry over the next ten years.

The report draws key themes from a review of literature related to the design of retail places and a review of retail planning policy, and is informed by the relevant findings from previous projects undertaken within BCSC’s Future of Retail Property research series. The findings inform assumptions for the future of shopping places, which have been tested at three workshop sessions. At those workshops the expert opinions of investors, developers, retailers, agents, planners, urban design champions and architects were sought on the prospects for the future of shopping places. The assumptions and workshop findings are then converted into a number of scenarios for the future of shopping places.
