This paper examines a freshly emerging element in the retail property industry: an emphasis on sustainable practices across a range of activities including energy and water consumption, transportation and waste management, now known as green leases.

Green leases bring a new factor to the equation by offering voluntary measures as well as legally binding clauses in commercial contracts.
