Senior Lecturer Food Management, University of Surrey has worked in research roles in both industry and academia.
She has considerable experience of research and project management and has undertaken a significant amount of research on older shoppers. Maggie is currently involved in running a BCSC funded research project addressing the growing number of third age consumers and the impact for the UK retail and shopping centre industry. She jointly coordinates a cross national EU project investigating food procurement which has provided extensive and detailed information on the shopping behaviour of older consumers in eight member states, (www.foodinlaterlife.org).
In previous research she was involved in the investigation of retail store location and food choice in older consumers. Currently she is managing a project commissioned by the Food Standards Agency Scotland and is also involved in a European Network of Excellence to provide a unified food composition resource (www.eurofir.net) and she also works on several other UK Food Standards Agency projects and is a panel member of a local food network.
Other research interests include quality service and measurement of user satisfaction in older users.
