Dr Hayley Myers has spent the last 14 years researching in the area of
retail from both a commercial and academic perspective.
A Geography graduate, her PhD focused on UK and European retailing and the process and impact of retail internationalisation. This and numerous other
academic studies have been disseminated at national and international
academic and trade conferences and in academic journals, trade press and
other media.
Hayley spent a number of years as Director of Retail Research at Corporate Intelligence Group and then Mintel International where she managed a team of analysts and researchers who focused on the changing nature of the UK and European retail environment, and implications for retail companies and consumers.
Returning to her current academic role in the School of Management at the University of Surrey in 2003, Hayley continues to develop links within the retail industry and is a member of the Steering Committee and the Data and
Information Committee of the International Council of Shopping Centre's
European Research Group. She is also a member of the Management Team and
Steering Committee of the BCSC's The Future of Retail Property project.
Her current research involves the aging consumer and the impact -
opportunities and threats - for the UK shopping centre industry.
