Kate trained as a surveyor specialising in economic regeneration and strategic planning for town centres across the UK. She has a degree in Urban Land Economics. She has a background in research having been responsible for developing town centre strategies and action plans for towns of various sizes, as well as providing policy advice on town centre management and urban regeneration good practice. She has researched and published a range of good practice guides and other academic papers in this area. As part of her extensive project management experience she has been responsible for planning and managing a range of industry events. She has a broad background in education, has organised and facilitated ‘round table’ conferences and seminars and has also developed and delivered tailored training courses to industry professionals. Kate now manages research and educational development for BCSC, working with the committees and BCSC’s public affairs and media relation agencies to provide the membership with industry research, policy guidance, good practice and training.
