Waste Reduction (20/08/2008)
The Lords science and technology committee has published a report on reducing waste in the UK, calling on the Government to shift its focus from reducing domestic to reducing commercial waste. The Committee suggests that ministers should centre their efforts on getting supermarkets and other businesses which are responsible for producing the vast majority of waste to cut back rather than putting the onus on consumers.

Cities Unlimited: Making urban regeneration work (12/08/2008)
Think-tank the Policy Exchange has published a report on the continuing inequality of opportunity between towns and cities in the North and those in the South East. The key recommendations from the report are to increase the size of London by allowing landowners the right to convert industrial land into residential land in areas of above average employment, to expand Oxford and Cambridge dramatically and for the Government to end all national regeneration programmes and distribute the money to local authorities according to need.
